How To Avoid Getting Ripped Off By Dealerships In Durban When Buying Used Japanese Vehicles

Getting The Best Deal When Buying Used Japanese Cars In Durban

Buying any used car be it from japan, from Durban or Musina is a daunting task for many new and existing customers. This is mainly so because there is no fixed price for these types of vehicles.Lets take an example of a Honda Fit.I usually  get a lot of phone calls of people asking me,how much is the Honda fit in Durban. This is quite a difficult question to answer, not only for the Honda fit but for almost all types of used cars from japan. The reason being that there is no fixed price for these cars, the prices vary from place to place, garage to garage, hence normally the best i can do is just give you the price ranges. This also explains the reason why i normally just give you the range since you wont know exactly which dealer you are likely to buy from.

How Much Is The Honda Fit In Durban?

Let us take an example of the honda fit,and the price variations and see how a customer is likely to be ripped off by the dealerships.I am not making these prices up,its just that i do not have the authority to name and shame the dealers which normally rip customers off.The prices for the Honda fit below are real and are what most dealers are charging.
  • Dealer A : $2800
  • Dealer B : $2600
  • Dealer C : $2500
  • Dealer D : $2200
  • Dealer E : $2000
  • Dealer F : $1800
With so many dealerships of used Japanese cars in Durban,it is even possible to find one which is cheaper than the above prices, especially if one shops around as many dealers as possible. The problem is that if the first dealer charges you $2800 for a honda fit,its most likely that if you come across someone who charges you $2600,you will buy.

How To Avoid Getting Ripped Off By Dealers

The idea and point of coming down to Durban to buy used cars from Japan is to buy not only a car in good condition ,neat and clean but to save money as well.
One thing you ought to do obviously is to avoid buying in the first garage you enter. There are so many dealers both in town and out of town.Shopping around as many dealerships as is possible should be your number one priority.
Besides,as already alluded to above, there is no fixed price for any used Japanese vehicle. All prices are negotiable.Do your level best to try and bring the price down or else simply walk out.In most cases you will realise that you end up paying upto $500 less than the initial price.
Furthermore ,you should never show that you are desperate for a deal. That is the number one mistake you should try to avoid. Most dealership owners will take advantage of that and give you almost double the price.Always know that with more than 20 dealers to buy from in Durban, you are somehow bound to get a better deal somewhere along the way.

Most Marketing agencies  will also help you shop around as many dealers as possible. They only get paid when and only when you buy hence they are most likely to show you almost all garages, even those out of town. They want you to buy so that they also get paid by the dealer from which you buy.Truth be told they will take you to the cheapest dealerships in town so that you get a better deal and buy the vehicle.

Moreso,Marketing agencies know the prices of the vehicles. As a result they will tell you in almost any garage you enter wether its a good deal or not. They will also do so in the hope that you will refer more customers to them. The dealership owner is also most likely to give you a decent price once he notices that you are moving around with an Agent. They know that an Agent would not want his customers to be ripped off.

These are just some of the things you ought to bear in mind when buying used Japanese vehicles.
